When you think of someone in their 70s or 80s what image comes to mind?
Based on the “Stereotype Embodiment Theory” the stereotypes we hold in our cognitive banks are very likely forming the maps of our personal aging process. These Negative “Age-associated, beliefs and stereotypes” may be all the proof we need, that after age 40 we begin to slow down. By 50, we’re 30-50lbs overweight, taking cholesterol, and blood pressure medication, and wondering what the hell happened to our energy. At 60, we may joke about our potbellies, and couch butts, but it’s no longer funny or cute. By 80, or 85, if we’ve made it that far, the final countdown begins…and most of us know it! Does this manifest because you believe "this is how it happens?"
In this episode of Ageless Mind Body Performance coach Tom Terwilliger shares a simple strategy for “flipping” the stereotype script and and changing even reversing the aging process.
