“When I was 14 years old I was starting to have trouble seeing the white board during class and told my parents that I thought I needed a different pair of glasses. Our journey from optometrists to eye specialists had begun. After a long road of poking and prodding it was determined and I was diagnosed with a rare form of Juvenile Macular Degeneration: Stargardt Disease. This particular disease affects the macula and causes a loss in central vision. This is a degenerative disease that progressively causes a loss in vision.”
